Bamboozi Beach Backpackers is situated on the palm tree clad dunes just outside of Tofu, Inhambane, Mozambique.

About us

Bamboozi is a little gem hidden in the heart of a coconut grove on a stretch of a virgin beach. Nested atop of some large sand dunes, the lodge boasts spectacular views of Tofu town and tropical, barefoot beach paradise. With a view of kilometres of deserted powder-white sand separating the dazzling azure Indian Ocean from the wild African bush. You can immerse yourself in local culture, get involved with conservation, and enjoy this tropical paradise - not the kind of experience you get every day! This vibey, eco-friendly beach lodge is built largely from natural materials, and offers a range of accommodation from backpacker dorms to (semi luxury) en suite chalets with sea views. Bamboozi has a range of activities either at the resident Dive & Surf Centre, or at its sister lodge a short distance away where you can quad bike, horse ride, experience ocean safaris and even do an iconic Dhow trip.

Directions

From Johannesburg, take the N4 towards Mbombela (Nelspruit) (about 400 km). From Mbombela (Nelspruit), continue following the N4 to Komatipoort, the last town on the South African side (about 100 km). Just past
Komatipoort is the Komatipoort/Ressano Garcia border post. NB: you can purchase the 3rd party insurance at the garrage just outside Komatipoort you need the following current car registration papers (or good facsimile thereof) are required to get a car past the border.

On the Mozambican side, just follow the N4 (now called EN4) for a further 100km or so to reach Maputo.

From Durban, on the KwaZulu Natal coast (South Africa), Maputo is 600km away and best approached via the Golele border post into Swaziland. The shortest route from Golele into Mozambique is at the newly opened
Goba border post.
